Canvas: Intensive 3 Day Training

Engage in a three day hands-on workshop designed specifically for faculty transitioning from Sakai to Canvas for the upcoming 2024-25 academic year. This comprehensive training provides an introduction to Canvas, focusing on helping faculty understand the platform, migrate their existing courses, and effectively utilize Canvas’s tools. To acknowledge faculty commitment and facilitate participation, a stipend of $600 per participant is being offered, funded through the Hahn Teaching with Technology Grant.

Eligibility and Application:
• Open to all faculty currently using Sakai and scheduled to teach during the 2024-25 academic year

Session Details:
Day 1: Introduction to Canvas
We will cover the basics of Canvas and how it differs from Sakai

Day 2: Course Creation & Student Engagement
We will cover content building, organization, and begin exploring student engagement tools

Day 3: Assessments, Grading & Course Publishing
We will cover assessment tools, including alternatives to Sakai’s Dropbox feature and address any remaining questions related to course migration.

Time: 9:30 AM – 12:00 Noon each day

Capacity will be limited to 12 participants per session to ensure personalized attention. Interested faculty are encouraged to apply early to secure a spot. Participants will be notified upon acceptance, and registration will close once maximum capacity is reached.
