Teaching with Pressbooks
Pressbooks is a simple book production software that enables faculty to create custom, open-source textbooks for their courses. These can take the form of interactive web books, PDFs for print, and ebooks. This tool is perfect for faculty who would like to use their own materials to make an open educational resource (OER) or have found an OER that they would like to adapt to their teaching or classroom. Another way faculty can incorporate Pressbooks into their teaching is by having students get involved in the creative process. Together, they can contribute and/or revise chapters, and the project can remain iterative.
To see an example of a book created with Pressbooks and to learn more about OER, see OER Creation and Adaptation by Rajiv S. Jhangiani.
